In the end of May 2015 the 16th WKC took place in Nippon Budokan, Tokyo. These photos are taken during the first official day of the event (Friday) – Men Individual. At the photos you may recognize – Nobuo Hirakawa, Masahiro Miyazaki, the eventual world champion Amishiro, the runner up Takenouchi, the coach of Japan – Ishida Toshiya, the former All Japan and world champion Tetsuo Harada and more….
Among these is Kyu- Butokuden, Japan’s oldest martial arts competition hall, which, along with the Heian- Jingu Shrine, was built in 1899 as part of a project to commemorate the 1,100th anniversary of the establishment of Heiankyo (present- day Kyoto). The hall was designed by MATSUMURO Shigemitsu, who is also responsible for the architecture of the former main building of Kyoto Prefectural Government Offices (an Important National Cultural Property).
What occurred me me this year was the number of the prizes the winner gets – about 20 different trophies, cups and stuff.
